Reports indicate OpenAI has provided customized GPT models for processing unclassified intelligence summaries and military document analysis. Meanwhile, Google — far from retreating after the 2018 Project Maven employee protests — has systematically deepened its military contracting. Google Cloud is now a major cloud service provider for the Pentagon, offering Gemini-based analytical tools to the Department of Defense.
Anthropic's decision has triggered a polarized debate in AI ethics circles.
